Mark Twain said: “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated” after hearing that his obituary had been published in the New York Journal”.

Perhaps the same can be said for email.

I was listening to NPR while driving and caught the tail end of an interview with a young farmer. I wasn’t paying much attention until I heard the young farmer begin to state that email is so dead- no one uses it anymore. I gleaned that he uses Twitter, texting, IM and social media as his means of communication. And he stated this with absolute certainty.

So is email dead?

WYSIWYG: what you see is what you get. The term is used in computing to describe a system in which content displayed during editing appears very similar to the final output, as defined in Wikipedia. I use the phrase  an application that I use that actually works the way it is supposed to or to describe people that I meet that are genuine, without guile. How many of you want to scream when you try a new app or device that promises to be simple or intuitive but is anything but. (And do you notice that companies that make these promises never provide a phone number to call?)

So is the promise that Cloud Computing is a WYSIWYG truth or hype?
